Q: What is XiaoZhuo?
A: XiaoZhuo is SIMEICHU's compact pocket-size pen series. It is made as a refined writing tool: good-looking, distinctive, dependable in daily use, and enjoyable to hold.
Q: Is XiaoZhuo only a fountain pen?
A: XiaoZhuo is a size series, not only one writing format. Depending on the product option, it may use a fountain pen nib or a Schmidt rollerball writing unit. Please check the product page before ordering.
Q: Is XiaoZhuo always wood?
A: No. XiaoZhuo is a size series, not a fixed material category. Current XiaoZhuo models mainly use natural wood. Future versions may use other materials or craft processes.
Q: How large is XiaoZhuo?
A: Current natural wood XiaoZhuo models are about 100 mm capped and 123 mm posted. It is small when capped and more comfortable when posted.
Q: Is XiaoZhuo similar to Kaweco Sport?
A: Both are compact pocket-size pens, but they feel different. Kaweco Sport is a classic standard pocket pen. XiaoZhuo focuses on natural wood, small-batch production, and a pull-cap structure.
Writing And Ink
Q: What writing units are available?
A: Product options may include a Schmidt #5 stainless steel fountain pen nib or a Schmidt rollerball writing unit. Available options can vary by batch.
Q: What ink system does XiaoZhuo use?
A: Current XiaoZhuo natural wood models use standard international short cartridges. Empty cartridges can also be refilled with bottled ink using a syringe.
Q: Can XiaoZhuo use a standard converter?
A: No. XiaoZhuo is too short for a standard converter.
Q: Why use a pull cap?
A: XiaoZhuo is very short. A pull cap keeps the pen compact, opens quickly, and works with the inner sealing sleeve.
Q: Does the pen dry out easily?
A: The cap has an inner sleeve to reduce dry starts. Actual performance still depends on ink, cartridge condition, storage position, and climate.
Q: Why no clip?
A: The no-clip design keeps the wooden cap clean and compact. If you need a clipped shirt-pocket pen, XiaoZhuo may not be the right choice.
Wood And Care
Q: Will the wood crack or deform?
A: Natural wood can crack or move if exposed to heat, direct sun, extreme dryness, or high humidity. We reduce risk through material selection, drying, machining, finishing, and inspection, but no natural wooden pen is immune to movement.
Q: How should I care for a wooden XiaoZhuo?
A: Use it often. Wipe it with a soft dry cloth after use. Store it at normal room temperature. Avoid high heat, direct sun, cars, heaters, air-conditioner vents, extreme dryness, high humidity, alcohol, and harsh cleaners.
Q: Will every wooden pen look the same?
A: No. Grain, color, and contrast vary from pen to pen. Product photos show the general material character, not an exact copy of every piece.
Q: Why do different woods have different prices?
A: Prices depend on material cost, blank selection, machining difficulty, finishing time, and usable yield.
Q: How do I choose the right wood?
A: Choose by appearance and feel. Bocote has bold grain. Green sandalwood is smoother and warmer in tone. Ebony is darker and more restrained. Red-toned hardwoods usually feel richer and more traditional.
