The Era Series | Exotic “Zebra” Grain | Central American Hardwood
The Story: Nature’s Wildest Pattern
Handmade from dense, durable Bocote (Golden Sandalwood).
Hailing from Mexico and Central America, Bocote is prized by collectors for its stunning golden-brown color featuring dramatic, dark brown to black streaks.
Often compared to Rosewood or Ziricote for its beauty, Bocote is famous for its unique figuring—you might find wild “eyes” or swirling patterns on your pen. It is a wood with a strong personality, often used in high-end guitars and custom knife handles. Over time, the golden tones will naturally deepen into a richer, vintage amber.
Why This Pen is Special
- Visual Drama: The high-contrast grain ensures that no two pens look alike. Whether it’s straight “zebra” stripes or swirling “eyes,” your pen will be a unique piece of natural art.
- Natural Polish: Bocote is naturally oily, allowing it to be polished to a high, glass-like luster without the need for heavy lacquers. It feels smooth and organic in the hand.
- High Density: With a high Janka hardness rating, this wood is heavy and durable. It gives the “Xiaozhuo” pocket pen a substantial, solid feel that defies its small size.
- A “Pocket Sword”: A tiny 10cm (3.9″) gem that fits in a coin pocket, yet transforms into a balanced, full-length writer (12.3cm) when the cap is posted on the back.

Care & Usage Guide
About the Material: Bocote is known for its stability (very little movement when dry). However, like all fine woods, the color will evolve and deepen with age and exposure to light.
Maintenance:
- Conditioning: Simply using the pen is the best care. Your hand’s oils will interact with the wood to maintain its natural polish.
- Storage: Keep away from extreme heat or direct sunlight.
What you get:

⚠️ Shipping Note regarding Ink: To ensure faster shipping and smoother customs clearance, ink cartridges are NOT included in the package. The pen uses “Standard International Short Cartridges,” which are widely available at any stationery store or online.
